Use Color Scheme Designer 3 to Create Materials for Color Blind Students

Colorblindness is one of those things where unless your colorblind, you probably don’t have a good understanding about what it’s like to be colorblind. Luckily you can get some help. Color Scheme Designer 3, which is an amazing tool for anyone interested in graphic or web design.

It’s simple to use. Create a palette in Color Scheme Designer 3 and select the “Simulate Color Vision Deficiency” menu in the lower-right corner. Ironically, it’s a little hard to see.

Color Scheme Designer 3 is a great tool that has really taken some of my designs to the next level by having a good eye for me. As shown above, it’s also a useful too for anyone who is creating classroom materials for a student who has a color vision deficiency.

Hi Steve,

Another tool that’s about to be released is HueVue for the iPhone. HueVue is a color tool that helps colorblind people identify, match and coordinate colors. It also has a mode that boosts the components of the image that are difficult to see for people who have Protanomaly or a Deuteranomaly. Early testers have been commenting that it could be a good color tool for the normally sighted too.

You can check out the web site at http://www.huevue.com. It should be available in iTunes in a couple of weeks.

Marty
